KONTAKT – Social skills group training for children and adolescents with autism is a clinical training aimed at clinicians working with autistic youths.
Course objectives
Access to evidence-based interventions for autistic individuals is very limited. Social skills group training is one of few methods that has been implemented and shown promising effects. Social skills group training is one of the few methods that has been implemented and shown promising effects for children and adolescents with autism (without intellectual disability). The purpose of the course is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of social skills training according to the Frankfurt model and KONTAKT.
Course content
The course consists of pre-recorded lectures as well as discussions and practice activities. Over one month, course participants complete self-learning modules at their own pace. Estimated working hours for the activities of the portion of the course, including listening to pre-recorded lectures, completing online quizzes, and homework assignments, is about 2 working days. Instructors are available throughout the course via e-mails and discussion boards on the learning platform Canvas. In the end of the course month, a half working day, joint seminar is scheduled. Active participation is required during the seminar.
Course format
The course is held online. A combination of self-directed learning via an online learning platform and real-time seminar meeting via a video communication system.

Eligibility
Course participants have previous experience of work with children and adolescents with autism, basic knowledge of CBT and group interventions. Participants may have a professional degree as e.g. speech pathologist, psychologist, social worker, nursing or comparable.

16 October – 15 November 2023: Independent, self-learning modules (mandatory)
16 November 2023: Joint seminar, time to be decided (mandatory – active participation is required)
Location
Course is completed online through the learning platform Canvas. The joint seminar is completed via the video communication service Zoom.

Registration
The registration will close earlier if the course has been fully booked before the final registration date.
When the course reaches the maximum number of participants, your application will automatically be waitlisted. This will be clearly marked on the application.
Notification of eligibility and admission to the course is sent out approximately one month before the start of the course.
This course is offered as contract education. Thus, the courses can be commissioned only by a legal entity - an organisation, company or the equivalent. Payment from individuals is not allowed according to Swedish regulations. The purchasing organisation must be specified on the application form.
Before a course registration is made, the immediate manager must approve the course registration. In direct connection with the registration, a confirmation is sent to the course participant. The immediate manager also receives a link via e-mail where he/she needs to approve the registration. Before the start of the course, practical information is sent to the course participant via the e-mail specified in the registration.
Registration is binding. In case of cancellation later than six (6) weeks before the course starts, 50 percent of the course fee will be charged, and in case of cancellation later than three (3) weeks before the course starts, the full course fee will be charged.
